There are a lot of new and long used injectable skin fillers for use in plumping out tissue and getting rid of skin irregularities. Let’s take a look at some of them.

ArteFill

ArteFill is also called Artecoll in non-US place. It is a filler made from polymethylmethacrylate, which are microspheres embedded in bovine collagen. It provides nearly permanent skin support.

Botox Cosmetic

This is a product that gets rid of fine lines and wrinkles by injecting itself into the skin and relaxing facial muscles. It takes only about ten minutes to do and it is very popular. It lasts three to six months, depending on the person.

Captique

This is a new wrinkle filler that is used in cosmetic dermatology for those with fine lines and wrinkles. It is made from non-animal hyaluronic acid.

Collagen

This has been used for 35 years to fill wrinkles. It comes from cows so that some people can be allergic to it. Sometimes a skin test is performed to see if there is an allergy before going ahead with the procedure.

Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm

These are human collagen filling agents that lower the risk of getting an allergy to the agent. The product called Cosmoderm is used for fine wrinkles of the face, whereas Cosmoplast is used for those stubborn deep wrinkles or facial creases.

Fascian

This is a long-lasting facial wrinkle filler that is believed to also stimulate natural collagen production in the body. It absorbs slowly under the skin and has long lasting results.

Fat Transfer

This is a procedure with low risk of allergic reactions because fat is taken from one body area and injected into the lips or into wrinkle creases without threat of allergy.

Hylaform

This is a procedure that uses hyaluronic acid from birds that has been significantly purified. Hyaluronic acid binds to water and fills in skin areas that need filling. The skin is lubricated and moisturized in the process.

Juvéderm

This is for those who might be sensitive or allergic to animal-based hyaluronic acid. It is made from the chemical form of hyaluronic acid and works for creases and wrinkles.

Perlane

This is a hyaluronic acid filler that works best for plumping up the lips.

Radiesse (Formerly Radiance)

This is an injectable filler that is made from microspheres containing phosphate and calcium ions. These occur normally within the body so there is no possibility of allergic reaction. It provides a firm support for the overlying tissue and skin and lasts up to two years.

Restylane

This is like Perlane and works for wrinkles, lines and to plump up the lips. It lasts for only six months, however, which is one of the downsides of this product. Even so, it is very popular.

Sculptra

This is also called Poly-L-Lactic acid and is a skin filler used to change the appearance of lines, wrinkles and creases. It works very well and helps new collagen form beneath the skin. It is commonly used for people who have insufficient amounts of fat in their face.

Zyplast or Zyderm

These have been around since the early to mid 80s and are very helpful as general skin fillers for the face.
